Itinerary
Meet at Marrakech airport and transfer to your accommodation, if you arrive early you can explore the Medina of Marrakech, visit the main square Jemaa Lafna and walk through the streets of the old Medina.
Accommodation in Riad or Hotel
Transfer from Marrakech to the valley of ait Bougmez, lunch at the gate to the high atlas. we will reach the village Tighza where we meet our mule team. Then begin our hike to climb up to plateau Tafenfant-2312m. night in tents. 5 hours of drive and 3 hours of walking.
We leave the Plateau of Tafenfant to climb through a forest of juniper to Omskik 2805m and then descend to the sheepfolds of Aarous where we find the nomads with their livestock (goats and sheep). Lunch near the gorges of Aarous afternoon, we visit the gorges. Night in tents. 5 hours of walking.
From Aarous we descend the valley to Ait Bougmaz with their traditional irrigation system. We pass near villages-Agouti and Ait Ziri. Lunch the large walnut trees near Tabant. Afternoon we continue to source Ait Imi. Night in tents. 5-hour walk.
From the Source of Ait Imi to the famous dinosaur footprints. Then continue to the nearby village of R’bat, climb to the mountain Adazen with great views of the valley, before descending to the other side of the valley. Night in tents near the village Zaouit Oualmzi.5 hours walk.
We continue our trek in the culture of the valley with their traditional irrigation system. This is a great day that enables us to meet the mountaineers working in the fields, through the village of Ait Ouanougdal Ifrane and iskatafene. Then we climb the pyramid Timit to visit the marabout Sidi Moussa 2010m. which offers a breathtaking view of the entire valley. Overnight in the guest house of Timit 4h30 walk to Timit.
Stroll for 2 hours to descend into the happy valley of Ait Bougmaz. We cross fields(but wheat, apple, poplar, and walnut). We will take the time to observe the daily work of the villages in the fields and the small grain mills. Transfer to Marrakech. 3 hours walk and 5 hours drive.
